    CONSULTANCY @ CAMPUS

Picture this. The company that owned one of the country's leading ice-cream brand was exploring opportunities in diversification for growth. No, they did not approach a consultant. At least, not the kind we normally hear of.

SJCBA creates a forum for such issues to be thrown open to students from the best B-schools in the country. The prize booty - A whopping 2.2 lac! Teams from about a hundred colleges usually respond - ISB, Hyderabad, the IIMs, Narsee Monjee,... they are all in it!

The best solutions for implementation are hence evolved.

Another effort that establishes the COLLECTIVE INNNOVATION that keeps us Josephites going!

    Our Spirituality Quotient.

The Art of Living workshops that we undergo empowers us to experience calmness and inner clarity in the midst of challenges. The workshops lend a new dimension to our learning at SJCBA, for they are engineered to build teamwork and leadership, through processes of self-acceptance and awareness. Greater understanding of oneself also helps understand others and provides answers to questions such as,

  • What is my unique contribution to my team?
  • What is my readiness to do the job in hand?
  • How do I transform the resistance to change in me into a force that drives change?

It has enabled us to be centered and more balanced. It has built our capabilities to manage stress with a greater sense of commitment and team unity as well.

'SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT'

We realize that in the path to economic progress, sidelining the protection of the natural environment would amount to blasphemy in the context of 'long-range planning'. Hence, we have explored various means of 'sustainable development' with a team of Gandhians who have initiated an eco-restoration project near the Thalli Reserve Forest in Tamilnadu called 'Navadarshanam'. Navadarshanam means 'A New Vision' - a new vision in alternative agriculture, architecture, energy & waste management. Our efforts have been towards extending the learning from this project to a broader industrial context.

Training Children in a Juvenile Home

It is our firm belief that children deprived of basic education, personal values and working skills hinder the growth of our nation. We are active volunteers of Child Relief & You (CRY). We decided to take on the task of training basic skills such as spoken English,& arithmetic to children in the Juvenile Home run by the Government of Karnataka, in Bangalore. The objective was to ensure that the children stand on their own feet once out of the protected environs of the Home. Further, we have also been trying to locate their parents who have long-forgotten their wards & place them back in their homes. The thrill is in having a significant role in shaping the lives of 60 young minds who looked up to us for help & support.
