PRESS NOTE

St Joseph’s College of Business Administration, Bangalore Launches Two New AICTE Approved Programs

St Joseph’s College of Business Administration, Bangalore, is happy to announce the launch on 20 August 07, of two new All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved programs. They are an Executive PGDM Program (15 months duration) and a PG Certification Program (12 months duration) in General Management. The Executive PGDM Program is meant for working managers/ supervisors while the certification program is meant for people with and without work experience. The Chief Guest at the Inauguration Ceremony was Mr Soumitra Sana, Managing Director, Global Software Group, Motorola India Pvt Ltd.

This is the first time that AICTE has approved such programs in Karnataka.

According to Dr Aveline R D’Souza SJ, Director of the College, the programs are run under the generic title “Interactive Management for Practicing Managers”. This is because of the practical management related input students will receive (apart from the theory) through the practice school concept.

Response to the programs has been excellent. The programs welcome both individual and corporate nominees.

These programs are carefully designed as boutique managerial programs to equip students to handle the stresses and pressures required from managers and are delivered by faculty who combine both corporate and academic experience. They are designed keeping in mind the requirements of working professionals.

Specifically, the first trimester lays down the building blocks of management education in terms of subjects offered which will include Financial Management, Principles of Management, Organization Culture and Development, and Marketing Management. Once this is done, the following trimesters will then bring in more functional topics, such as Six Sigma, TQM, Operations Management, Business Policy, Analytical Methodology, Brand Management, Global Marketing, MIS and Systems etc. The last trimester will then integrate and round off the programs. The courses have been carefully structured so that students will get a considerable amount of inputs in terms of assignments they have to perform which are based on real happenings in companies. One day in the week is devoted solely to assignments.

All the courses, including the Executive and Certification programs, are backed by a well equipped computer laboratory, and a well stocked library with a wide range of business oriented books and national and international business journals.

Best wishes
